What I did today Empty
PostSubject: What I did today   What I did today Icon_minitime1Wed Apr 24, 2013 11:52 pm

Today I trod on it to work at about 8:30, my boss was already up and eating breakfast when he offered me tea and a biscuit. Then at about 9:00 he told me what he wants done by 2:00. I had to pull some fence posts up, clean a shed out ready for hay this year, move the dung spreader out of the shed and put it in a field just outside the yard to be cleaned and painted, replaced 2 loader hoses on the 8441 as for some reason they went, then I repaired a puncture on his car. Done all that with 10 minutes (ish to spair) now I'm on my lunch break on my Nexus tablet tongue.

This afternoon I'm going to check on some cows that are out on the cliffs and then probably feed them if they need some more silage and then that will be more then likely the day. I might have to do another odd job but who knows! I'll keep you posted.

Feel free to share your days too!

Ok today, I cut silage this morning. First time this year had the 7245 out on the small 5'6" mower. Took about 3 months but finally cut around 25 acres tongue. Then I turned and rowed it up with the 135 and haybob turning about 1 1/2 into 1. Then tomorrow it will be baled where I shall be wrapping. Also a tractor on demo arrived today a small JD 6230. Nice looking machine will use it on the wrapper tomorrow. Plus I'm tempted to get someone to film me tomorrow. tongue

Technically that wouldn't work, I might put camera on post or something and film it tongue I'm off in a minute to take 6230 to go and pick up a brand new wrapper. Boss's decided not to work just now so I get the pleasure of driving 12 miles to get his sons tongue

It would if the rows are straight and you can run fast. Putting it on a post is a better idea. Something else new? Surprised it must be christmas.

I've recorded a bit of the road run when I was in the back roads but I've wrapped about half of the bales now and that Deere is some bloody nice to drive. Clutch is a bit unresponsive, especially as I had to practically slam on when some twat decided to pull out in front of me. Still could do with a 50k version though tongue. Also the loader on it is alright. Not a fan of the new Quickes tongue.

btw wrapper sucks tongue

Old but gold springs to mind. It might have an electric clutch actually, most modern tractors do. I'm not a fan of loader tractors full stop actually

Done 200 bales all wrapped and sat in a few lines in the field. Going to go and take the 2 Zetors and the Deere out and bring them in later. Have the Deere on loading with the old 7245 and 8441 hauling. I think the 8441 will go for that Deere though the boss loves it more tongue. I'm a fan of them because it's more practical then a telehandler.. But that's like the only reason tongue

Ah not bad then, in a few ways they're more practical but not many. Bye bye Zetor

Cool - nice to see were're all nice and back on topic. cheers
Sounds fun Dale - nice sounding Deere and 6930 premiums have electric clutches and I think the smaller models do but I don't know about the SE/Standard ones though.

It's not a premium, I don't think it's a hell of a machine though, on the roads it's much more powerful then the Zetor and Deutz that I'm used to. I really think the boss is looking at getting a second hand one though that's a couple of years old versus a brand new one though, I did spy him looking at Agri Trader earlier tongue. Anyway it's all stacked in the yard now all ready to be picked up as well. I think it goes back to dealer on wednesday not sure.

Second hands if they've been well looked after are a better buy than a new one. Does this one have a square or round dash? Square is standard, round is premium.
